6 Ways You Can Create Unique Content For Each Platform

By now, people are beginning to understand that content is king. As in, if you have fresh, interesting content being developed on your website and social platforms, then you're not only relevant, but you're engaging your audience with updated information.
Creating content isn't just for your website, though. You must also create specific content for your social platforms, such as for Twitter & Facebook.
Simply regurgitating the same information from your website onto your social platforms won't be enough to satisfy your audience.
Of course, you should always share the content that you create on your website onto your social platforms, but outside of sharing, you should also create content that is specific to each platform.
For example:
On Twitter, I create daily/weekly social media tips that can't be found on my website or any other platform. I also create tweets that are generally informing that, again, can't be found anywhere else.
The same goes for every other platform, including YouTube and even Pinterest. They all have different types of content that you can share among your audience.
So here are a few ways to decide how to create unique content for each platform:
1. Get to know the platform. Whether it's Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr or LinkedIn - get to know each platform intimately before ever posting. Look at how other people are sharing content. Now be warned that a lot of people will not be sharing different content across each platform because a lot of people rely heavily on automation. So you'll want to look past the repeated content and look for people that have varied content across each platform. THEN figure out what sort of content YOU can offer for that particular platform. Be sure to write it down so you can keep 'em all straight.
2. Get to know the people. Find out what people are craving for on each platform. For instance, on LinkedIn, people crave for more business-type content that can help them either get a job or help improve their current position/company. Figure out what is being liked, commented and shared the most on each platform.
3. Think outside the box. Content can be ANYTHING. Audio, video, pic, written; think about how you can utilize each medium in order to bring the best content available for each platform.
4. Keep it simple. Social media goes by very quickly, no matter what platform you're using. So make sure that the content is educational, actionable and straight to the point.
5. Be personable. It doesn't always have to be about business. The content you create could be talking about a personal milestone or maybe that you're on your tenth cup of coffee. You want a good balance of personal and
6. Plan it out. Even I can have trouble planning out content for each platform in advance. But it's absolutely crucial to have that set plan to where you know what kind of content you're going to create on any given day. Get a whiteboard, lay out the days in the week and then begin to fill in those days with types of content you can create for each platform. You don't need to plan out exactly what you're going to say, just plan enough so that you know the TYPE of content you need to create.
How can YOU create unique content for your platforms?

My name is Morgan!...And I want to rock your social media world! ;) I LOVE what I do and I want to instill that same passion into YOU and your BUSINESS!

Great post, once again Morgan!
I may not be the queen of creating new content for each platform, but I do have a strategy for each platform (or am at least working on one for my newly embarked on platforms), and I think it’s important that the strategy be different for each one, since people expect different things and different types of engagement for depending on the platform.
Plus it keeps it fresh and new – which means I can never get bored!
Thanks for the great read Morgan!

Hey Melissa!
Yes you’re absolutely right, if you have a strategy laid out for each platform, then the unique content for each should come naturally. As you said, people expect different things on different platforms and each platform is set up to be able to have different content.
Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for that great post Morgan! I really enjoyed reading it.
It’s straight and to the point! I absolutely agree with you that an overall social media strategy needs to include dedicated plans for each and every social media platform! And yes, this takes time, but I am convinced that this is essential for success in social media environment… Building-up and maintaining a network of friends / followers / fans is a marathon not a sprint. Social media stamina required.
Thanks again for the great read Morgan!

Great post, best ways are to be straight to the point, write simple and helpful articles. People just don’t like long posts, give honest and useful content and traffic will just grow more and more.

Hey, Morgan:
It can be hard to update every one of our social media accounts on a daily basis, but with a thoughtful, dedicated and strategic plan – it is very possible.
And as you mentioned above content can be video, audio, a podcast, photos, etc – it doesn’t always have to be a piece written content. Good advice.
Cheers!

Hi Missy!
Well it doesn’t even have to be everyday, I didn’t mean for it to come off as if you absolutely HAVE to add new content each day.
As long as you’re adding new and interesting content often, and like you said, with a strategic plan, then you’re good.
